Route 66, a Ribbon of Road
This descent from the Black Mountains to the River Valley is near Boandry Cone five miles west of Oatman on Historic Route 66, about 33 miles (53 km) west of Kingman.
Route 66 has had many names: The Main Street of America, The Wire Road, The Will Rogers Highway and the Mother Road to name a few.
By whatever name, it is probably the most well-known highway in the United States, perhaps the world. In the middle of the longest continuous stretch lies Kingman, the "Heart of Historic Route 66. " Heading east or west from here, you can cruise down memory lane and visit historic towns and roadside stops. But don't forget to stop at the Powerhouse Route 66 Museum and the Kingman Visitor Center, located inside Kingman's Historic Powerhouse. We have maps, Route 66 Passports and everything you need to plan an Arizona Route 66 road trip!
